Metallurgical Manager in charge of Douglas Collieries six coal preparation plants. Responsible for all budget setting, planning, facility design and new ventures. Control of all mine laboratory installations.

DOUGLAS COLLIERY (RAND MINES COAL DIVISION)
Plant Superintendent in charge of Van Dyksdrift Colliery, Wolverkrans Colliery, Albion Colliery and Union Colliery. Responsible for all operations, operation planning and staffing. Responsible for all technical and innovation procedures. Assisted with the commissioning of the Van Dyksdrift dense medium coal washing plant.

WELGEDACHT COLLIERY NATAL (RAND MINES COAL DIVISION)
Plant Superintendent in charge of Welgedacht Colliery. Responsible for all operations, operation planning and staffing. Responsible for all technical and innovation procedures.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANT LOW ASH PROJECT
RAND MINES COAL DIVISION
Responsible for the control of all Low Ash Project sample analysis. Responsible for the logging of all results and the washabilities of all exploration borehole cores. Assisted in the final layout of Low Ash mining areas and the final selection of the dense medium washing plant, product storage and load out facility.

BLYVOORUITSIG GOLD MINE (RAND MINES)
Responsible for the daily operation of the reduction works and the gold recovery plant. Responsible for all staffing and staff training. Assisted in the design of the new reduction works and uranium plant.

Responsible for all technical work carried out on the gold reduction works, uranium plant and sulphuric acid plant. Acted as development engineer at Rand Mines head office for two years.

Responsible for the testing of raw and final products in the production of uranium metal. Responsible for test work involving chrome, uranium, fluorspar, tin and heavy mineral beach sand. Assisted on the pilot plant producing the first uranium metal in South Africa.
